EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Addon Domains will not be functional unless the domain name is registered and configured to point to our DNS servers.

To set up multiple sites on your account you must utilize our Addon Domains tool. This tool allows you to set up multiple hosting accounts under your master account.

Addon Domains work by creating sub-directories on your account and pointing the domains to the sub-directories.

Setting up an Addon Domain:

A subdirectory with the name you entered in Step 2 above will be created. In this example, it will create the subdirectory /public_html/domain2/.

This subdirectory will be the root from where the files for the Addon Domain will be served. In other words, when you type "www.domain2.com" in your browser, our server will show the web files stored under the /public_html/domain2/ subdirectory.

The server will also create the sub-domain domain2.maindomain.com.

IMPORTANT: It is very important that you do not delete the sub-domain associated with your Addon Domain in Sub-Domain Maintenance. Doing so will render your Addon Domain in-operative.

Uploading to Addon Domains:

When a domain is added, an FTP account will be created for this domain. The username and password for this FTP account will be the ones you entered when you added the domain. In the example above, username=domain2 password=password. The FTP host will be the same as for your main account.

The FTP account can access the subdirectory /public_html/domain2/ and everything below it. It can not access directories above /public_html/domain2/. For example, it can not access /public_html/.

This is powerful because you can add numerous domains and give the FTP login for each domain to the owner to manage their files without giving them access to the rest of your file system.

Other important notes on Addon Domains:

- To your site visitors, addon domains appear and work just like any other domain, there is nothing to indicate that the files are being served from a subdirectory of your main account.

- Addon Domains do not get their own control panels.

- Addon Domains will work with or without the "www" prefix.

- For Addon Domains to work properly, you must point their DNS our name servers, ns1.earthstardns.com and ns1.earthstardns.com.

- You can create email accounts for your Addon Domains from the email account management section in your control panel. You can have emails such as user@domain2.com, info@domain2.com.
